Discussion question: Primal dreams

A few years ago a friend of mine who practices Neo-Druidry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-druidism) mentioned to me that, when he dreams, he often dreams imagery from the Wild Hunt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Hunt). This surprised me, because when I dream, its usually about variations on my current or past social experiences, reliving old embarassments or fears, etc. The idea of dreaming something so epic and aesthetic was pretty foreign to me.

More recently, though, I'm finding more mythic imagery creeping into my dreams. Wolves, dogs, people who talk to wolves (or dogs), and werewolves are prominent for me.

I wonder how common this flavor of dreaming is.

What kinds of dreams do you have? Are they social, surreal, abstract, something else? Do you ever dream mythic or religious imagery? If so, what sorts of imagery show up for you?

My dreams are mostly random/weird in content, though there is a sprinkling of anxiety/fear dreams (forgot a class, forgot to feed pets, running from danger) and lucid/play/wish-fulfillment dreams.

I never dream of canines. I think it would actually be rather surprising to me if I did; they'd be a strong symbol of...something. Would depend on context.

My dreams are very varied. When they're too much about 'me', that is, the real world, I worry that I am overly stressed in my daily life. When I'm more relaxed, my dreams are more epic, otherworldy, or suitable for writing stories from--which is how I prefer it.

What makes wolves mythic?
