I think this is promising:
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2010/apr/08/politifact-fact-check-abc-this-week/
"A few months ago, New York University journalism professor Jay Rosen suggested that the Sunday talk shows begin fact-checking their guests. He said PolitiFact could do the work and post the results a day or two after the show. ...

"...Jake Tapper, the interim host of This Week, liked the suggestion and asked us to fact-check the show on a trial basis. So starting this Sunday, we'll be fact-checking the newsmakers who appear on the program. ..."

This site also seems like a good one to bookmark:

At the very least, I am glad to learn that people are at least talking about this issue. I find it infinitely frustrating when supposed expert guests on interview shows can't seem to agree on basic facts surrounding an issue. I've mostly encountered this on NPR, because that is what I listen to, but in my experience, most other networks/stations are at least as bad.

When I turn on the news, I want information, not Punch and Judy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punch_and_judy, for those not familiar with the concept). Maybe this is a step in the right direction...
